In this video, Li Yang says, "English is the egg laid by the Mandarin language. As long as you know Mandarin Chinese and Pinyin method, you will be able to speak fluent English. Why? Let me explain by examples. For example, "桌子太薄了" (meaning the table is too thin), so here comes the 'table'."

What did he mean by "the table is too thin"? In fact, what he tried to express is "the tabletop is too thin".



In his example "桌子太薄了", "桌子" means table, and "太薄了" means "too thin". The Pinyin of "太薄了" (tài-báo-le) sounds similar to the pronunciation of the English word "table". However, there are a lot of things in the world that are too thin in thickness, but obviously, not all of them are tables.

Li Yang's method is just for helping his followers remember English words in a crazy way. As you can see, his conclusion "English is the egg laid by the Mandarin language" is ridiculous!
