I have successfully translated legal documents into Latin for presentation in Vatican courts; however it should be noted that many of the legal terms (especially American terms) do not exist in Latin. It is an exhausting process that takes phenomenal research and language skill. Unlike with other languages, legal Latin translation is the most challenging type of translation project to undertake. <br>
A glossary and translation memory was produced in this case that I can use for future Latin legal translations of this type.<br>
In this case, I also did some project management, coordinating parts of the project with a team of other talented Latinists I am in contact with.

Source text - English When she moved into his tiny house in Stroud, and took charge of his four small children, Mother was thirty and still quite handsome. She had not, I suppose, met anyone like him before. This rather priggish young man, with his devout gentility, his airs and manners, his music and ambitions, his charm, bright talk, and undeniable good looks, overwhelmed her as soon as she saw him. So she fell in love with him immediately, and remained in love for ever. And herself being comely, sensitive, and adoring, she attracted my father also. And so he married her. And so later he left her - with his children and some more of her own.
When he'd gone, she brought us to the village and waited. She waited for thirty years. I don't think she ever knew what had made him desert her, though the reasons seemed clear enough. She was too honest, too natural for this frightened man; too remote from his tidy laws. She was, after all, a country girl; disordered, hysterical, loving. She was muddled and mischievous as a chimney-jackdaw, she made her nest of rags and jewels, was happy in the sunlight, squawked loudly at danger, pried and was insatiably curious, forgot when to eat or ate all day, and sang when sunsets were red. She lived by the easy laws of the hedgerow, loved the world, and made no plans, had a quick holy eye for natural wonders and couldn't have kept a neat house for her life. What my father wished for was something quite different, something she could never give him - the protective order of an unimpeachable suburbia, which was what he got in the end.
The three or four years Mother spent with my father she fed on for the rest of her life. Her happiness at that time was something she guarded as though it must ensure his eventual return. She would talk about it almost in awe, not that it had ceased but that it had happened at all.

Este sistema consiste básicamente en un conjunto de dispositivos de monitorización instalados en cada uno de los vehículos que se encargan de comprobar periódicamente la posición del vehículo, la presión del aceite y la temperatura del agua del motor. De estos dos últimos parámetros solamente se controlan su estado: normal o de alarma. Esta información recogida se envía a un sistema central mediante GPRS donde se consolida en una base de datos y se pone a disposición de los usuarios.
Los dispositivos embarcados son Aplicom modelo L-4001, que disponen de receptor GPS para posicionamiento y 4 entradas binarias. Dispone de una Java Virtual Machine edición J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) en configuración Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) e implementando un perfil Information Module Profile (IMP). Translation - English XXX is currently implementing a monitoring and locating system for the motorised vehicles used for its operations at YYY.
This system basically consists of a set of monitoring devices installed in each of its vehicles which periodically verify the vehicle’s position, oil pressure and engine water temperature. Only the status of the two latter items is monitored: normal or alarm. The data collected is sent to a central system via GPRS, where it is incorporated into a database and made available to the users.

Inconsiderate intruders, they demand our time and attention even when we have no more to give. Though limited in age and size, children are full of human complexity. They invade our privacy, disrupt our plans and point our life’s compass in a whole new direction.
How we would love for these innocent cradles of our unfinished dreams to follow the paths we envisioned for them and to desire what we most desire! Yet they have dreams and aspirations of their own and need to find their own path in life.
Time and time again we try to use our experience to shield them from blows, but certain things are only learned through stumbling, and the riddles of life have more than one answer.
What wonderful little tykes! We learn more from them - or with them - than they learn from us. Their voices give our words new meaning, and their needs and challenges cause us to reconsider ideas and feelings that we’ve accumulated through years of routine.
Our children need us because we show them the way. And we need them even more, because they show us where we’ve been.
