Source text - English This study is looking at 2 investigational COVID-19 vaccines for:
• safety;
• tolerability (extent to which the vaccine can be tolerated);
• immunogenicity (the body’s ability to develop an immune response).
The vaccines are being researched as a booster in people who have previously had a COVID-19 vaccine, and as a first vaccination in people who have not previously had a COVID-19 vaccine.
We are looking for volunteers who are 18 years of age or older.
What is a clinical research study?
A clinical research study is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about an investigational vaccine or medicine.
All vaccines and medicines must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved for use.
Without people taking part in these studies, we would have no new vaccines or medicines.
About Study ......
1. Although approved COVID-19 vaccines are now available in many countries, it is not known how well these vaccines will work against mutated or ‘variant’ forms of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
2. Study ...... is researching investigational vaccines for the prevention of COVID-19 caused by a variant strain of the virus that originally emerged from South Africa.
In this study, participants will receive either:
1 injection of an investigational vaccine
People who have previously received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine;
2 injections of an investigational vaccine, either 4 or 12 weeks apart
People who have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine.
If you take part, you will be in Study ...... for up to about 9.5 months.
You may have up to 10 visits at the study centre.

Bio
Born in South Africa, I grew up equally fluent in English and Afrikaans. I am an experienced translation professional and proofreader, specialised in legal, medical/pharmaceutical, educational and marketing content. Since 2003 I have assisted clients with the translation of their French documents into English. I do the same for clients requiring English-Afrikaans and Afrikaans-English translation.
