Plans call for creating a total of 1,000 acres by filling in shallow waters on the western edge of Vasilievsky Island, the main island in the Neva River Delta. Noting that this is three times larger than London’s Canary Wharf or Hamburg’s HafenCity, Russian planners say that Marine Façade is the biggest waterfront development project in Europe today.

: Interestingly enough the word "намыто" in the Wikipedia article is left untranslated: "In 2008 the first phase of works has been finished, was намыто 150 hectares of territory"

: 150 hectares of territory were alluviated (намыто) in 2008?! I think not! That would be one darn big stream carrying a lot of alluvium to be deposited.

I live in St.Pete, in a distance of just about 500 meters from this area. And I have seen many times a lot of special machinery and tractors that operate 24/7 and 150 hectares is not the end, more than 400 hectares of land are to be alluviated!

alluvial island
There are several islands of Shanghai governed by Shanghai city, including three larger inhabited ones and a number of uninhabited. They are alluvial islands in the Yangtze River Delta in China.

Chongming, a 750-square-mile island at the mouth of the Yangtze River, is the world’s largest alluvial island. Located some 20 miles east of Shanghai’s downtown Financial District and seven miles across the Yangtze by ferry, Chongming’s extraordinarily rich, flood-replenished soil had for decades made the island-district the agricultural “rice bowl” for China’s burgeoning commercial colossus.

Jack slep
: Alluvial islands are formed by the deposition of alluvium by streams or running water. I don't think that's the case here with the little given information

That's what they call them in this country if they are natural formations - such as the Outerbanks in N.C. They may often form fairly long coastal chains.

: I never said намывной was alluvial, quite the opposite-- made land or hydraulic fill

Jack, hydraulic fill is ok, but намывной (or намытый) is also a general term for reclaimed land.//The field 'architecture' suggests a man-made island. By the way, alluvial translates наносной, аллювиальный rather than намывной.
