Hello,
How to close a question without grading? I've recently posted a question in eng-pol pair and received an answer in Italian. It was the only answer. I want to close a question but do not want to grade the answerer (the answer was in Italian - completely unhelpful). I browsed the forums, but couldn't find a similar post. Is there such a possibility?

Looks like the "Close without grading" button has disappeared (it used to be under the question box). I checked my open question and if I wanted to close it without awarding points, I couldn't do it, either.

I had the same problem with a couple of my questions. I found that I could only close without grading after recieving an email from ProZ to remind me that I should now choose an answer.
Before this point, there is no such option (although there used to be).

I had the same problem. My question had already been asked and I had missed it, so it was suggested to me to close the question without grading it.
I couldn't close it either. Perhaps a glitch? I remember that it was possible before to select that option.
I hope that it gets fixed.

I noticed that if I am visualising the question in standard design (specified at the top of the page under "Kudoz list" I cannot grade or close a question.
If I click on "V3 design" then all the buttons suddenly appear. Could that be your problem as well?

This is a concern, but when it comes to a situation like you described here, I have a hard time understanding why a person can not simply squash his/her own question. As it stands now and if I understand correctly, only people with over 500 points or something can have editing functions, including squashing questions, if so granted by a moderator. But what if I post a question and then soon thereafter find, for whatever reason, that I should not have posted it? I can't get rid of it, it's there forever, owned by the site. I would think that if there are no answers yet, an asker should have the right to hide/delete/squash his/her own question.

I feel that this facility is not available, because the people who answered your question have already invested their time and talent in giving you the answers - so they must be given some points for their efforts. Moreover, this facility could be abused.

I ended up giving the points to the person who answered the question correctly. As a matter of fact, she was also the one who pointed out to me that I could close the question without grading it.
