Hi Jose,
Well, that's nothing that you'd explain in a post. But you can get the basics in 1 day, I'd say. During my Master's I though that the SERanking Academy gets you on track pretty fast:

I recorded a little video for a translator who was to research SEO for a website of mine. Send me a message if you are interested in the link. ▲ Collapse | | | Samuel Murray Netherlands Local time: 00:07 Member (2006) English to Afrikaans + ...

Even if you know what SEO is and what some of the tasks associated with SEO can be, it is not sufficient for the client to ask you to "perform SEO tasks" -- that doesn't tell you anything about what it is that the client wants you to do. Can you be more specific about which SEO tasks you were requested to perform? | | | Jose Ruivo Portugal Local time: 23:07 Member (2007) English to Portuguese + ... TOPIC STARTER

If you have no experience, refuse the job. It involves big responsibilities and you need a paid keyword tool account in order to get reliable keywords with related figures and competition level for the specific region. | | | Jose Ruivo Portugal Local time: 23:07 Member (2007) English to Portuguese + ... Hi again everyone,
Am I correct in assuming the SEO tasks should be performed on the translated site already on line, rather than the original site that is meant to be localized?

You can’t get SEO information in a forum post, it’s a complex subject. It also involves a lot of testing, your keywords are supposed to be tested in terms of conversion, then you have to do it again if it doesn’t convert. | |

OK, I am not ready to take this task now. But I still want to learn. Other than the ressource sugested by Uta, any other sugestions?
From the comments, I am assuming that someone here, other than Uta, has learned how to do it. How did you learn?

To be successful at SEO, you need a combined knowledge: some coding, web design, web development, search engines and a lot of things that are happening in the background. You may learn some superficial SEO without all these things, but then you won’t get conversions.
You’ll usually join a team that will involve a digital marketer, web developer etc, they may send you to do some support tasks such as keyword research etc.

You may take up a course (there are many online I assume), but you’ll only get pieces of knowledge there.
IMO, the majority of SEO involves technical knowledge and web pathaways.

Hi Jose,

Local SEO is becoming the ultimate pitchfork for small enterprises to discover and generate traffic to the places that are valuable for companies due to the proximity.
According to the research done by Google, half of the mobile search queries are location-driven, and the same research discovered that 72% of the consumers perform a business location search either on Google Maps or Google search engine.
Updating something doesn't mean that the ranking increases in Google's results. New content is required; knowledge evolves as well. In fresh content paraphernalia, Google uses website update as the integral criterion for ranking. Keeping your site content fresh will improve its ranking.
SEO planning should consider keywords with a low competition and the application of long-tail keywords to serve in exotic markets and smaller niches as they increase traffic unlike highly competitive generic high volume keywords.
These keywords help businesses to engage in market specialisation and communication with a particular targeted segment, which the chances of conversion are high. ▲ Collapse | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » SEO - help!
