Source text - French Je m’appelle Berthine Crèvecoeur West et je suis une traductrice et interprète indépendante. Je parle le Français et le Créole Haïtien couramment. En outre, je suis capable d’entretenir une conversation en Espagnol. J'ai fait la traduction pour diverses entreprises pendant plus de 11 ans. Mon domaine d'expertise est la traduction du Français en Anglais et les interpretation téléphoniques du Créole Haïtien en Anglais. J'ai une Maitrise en Affaires Politiques. Au cours de mes dernières année à l’Université, ma spécialisation a été en Relations Internationales. Cette experience a été merveilleuse et, je pense, a enrichi ma vie professionnelle tant que personnelle. De plus, l'université m'a donné l'occasion de rencontrer diverses personnes.
J'aime voyager, lire au sujet des affaires étrangères, passer du temps avec mes amis et ma famille, ainsi que rencontrer de nouvelles personnes et évidemment, traduire et interpréter! J'ai décidé de devenir une traductrice indépendante parce que je suis très fascinée par le domaine de la traduction. Chaque jour est différent, comme chaque mission est différente. Il me permet de travailler à la maison, tout en travaillant avec de nombreuses différentes personnes, de tous les secteurs. Plus important encore, être une traductrice et une interprète me permet d'être au service de la population ainsi que les entreprises en les permettant de mieux communiquer les uns avec les autres.
Translation - English My name is Berthine Crèvecoeur West and I am a translator and interpreter. I am fluent in French and Haitian Kreyol. In addition, I am a conversational Spanish speaker. I have been translating for various firms for over 11 years. My field of expertise is translating from French to English and telephonic interpretation from Haitian Creole to English. I have a Master’s degree in Government and Politics. During graduate school, my major was International Relations. It was a wonderful experience, which I feel has enriched both my professional and personal lives. In addition, graduate school gave me the opportunity to meet many different people from various backgrounds.
I enjoy traveling, reading about foreign affairs, spending time with friends and family, as well as meeting new people and of course, translating and interpreting! I decided to become a freelance translator because I am very excited about the field of translating. Every day is different, as every assignment is different. It allows me to work from home, while interacting with many different people, from every industry. Most importantly, being a translator and interpreter allows me to be of service to people and companies by assisting them to communicate effectively with one another.
