I have been translating in and out of French for my husband and family for 27 years! My spoken and written French are excellent. I worked in France as an 'assistante d'anglais' whilst at University and also as an 'animatrice' at 4 Centres de Vacances. I have worked on a musical 'colonie' and taken part in sports activities and horse riding in France which were conducted entirely in French.
My specialism is Education (with a focus on Special Educational Needs and Early language learning). I used research papers on Autistic Spectrum Disorder in French for a Masters' Level course and can translate papers for you on this and other topics. After working in a full range of schools and other settings teaching French and many National Curriculum subjects, I am now an advisory teacher for pupils with Medical and Physical Disabilities.
I am also a qualified Beauty Therapist, with NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy. I have a good working knowledge of facials, waxing, manicure, pedicure and eye treatments, make up and cosmetic ingredients.
I have travelled frequently in France and have a good knowledge of Travel and Tourism, as we have covered many thousands of kilometres by car, train and plane. My understanding of car breakdown vocabulary was learned the hard way, as was my knowledge of illness and injury and medical terms. (Motor bike accident in France was followed by months of medical care and physio! But I walk without a limp, so it all worked.)
I am a Christian and have attended church services and Christian youth and family camps in France, where all activities were in French. We talked in depth about many aspects of Christian and secular life, and bringing up children.
I have done horse riding and kayaking myself in France and arranged fishing activities for my husband.
Weekend and school holiday work welcome. I am working full-time as an advisory teacher at the moment, and my calendar is updated to reflect my availability. |
