English to French: What is the Polar Vortex General field: Science Detailed field: Meteorology
Source text - English The stratospheric polar vortex is a large-scale region of air that is contained by a strong west-to-east jet stream that circles the polar region. This jet stream is usually referred to as the polar night jet. The polar vortex extends from the tropopause (the dividing line between the stratosphere and troposphere) through the stratosphere and into the mesosphere (above 50 km). Low values of ozone and cold temperatures are associated with the air inside the vortex.
English to French: Abdel-Aal Chapter 11 Sour Gas Treating General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Petroleum Eng/Sci
Source text - English 11.4.1 Iron Sponge
Iron sponge fixed-bed chemical absorption is the most widely used batch process. This process is applied to sour gases with low H2S concentrations (300 ppm) operating at low to moderate pressures (50–500 psig). Carbon dioxide is not removed by this treatment. The inlet gas is fed at the top of the fixed-bed reactor filled with hydrated iron oxide and wood chips. The basic reaction is the formation of ferric sulfide when H2S reacts with ferric oxide:
