The digital amusement industry in China is a swiftly growing industry. In 2004, the internet gaming business was over two
billion dollars (usd) in China, a more than 60% increase over 2003. This rapid increase in the gaming industry has attracted more and more businesses and personnel into the field, and by the end of 2004, China had nearly 400 gaming businesses and 30,000 or so gaming business workers. In the next 3-5 years, the number and quality of people is expected to rise sharply. Those not working in the field yet are coming on board to to satisfy this increased interest. The 2004 gaming school figures verify this phenomenon. From June 2004, to the end of the year, the number of people in training throughout China had reached s few thousand, and by May, 2005, this number had reached to nearly 4000 people. With each student's cost at 1500 yuan, the gaming school training business revenue in China has reached 60 million yuan. With the number of workers already in the industry and the number of gaming businesses there are, there are not enough people to satisfy an organized system. The IGDEA goal is to take this group as the base, and with the cooperation of the Chinese government, put in place service to all areas, through the benefit of diligent certified training, with magazine articles, lectures, consultation, advice and research.
IGDEA has a goal to offer specialized service and direction to the entire Chinese gaming industry. In the next five years or so this market could have a value of tens of millions in US dollars in business opportunity and market strength.
