I'm a native Scottish Gaelic speaker with 19 years' experience of subtitling, three of which were spent providing English subtitles for Gaelic programmes and vice versa.
I have an honours degree in microbiology from Glasgow University and a postgrad diploma in Gaelic broadcasting from Sabhal Mor Ostaig, which is now part of the University of the Highlands.
For the last seven years, I've been working as a freelance subtitler and translator for the ITV network, the BBC and various other clients. Projects I've worked on have ranged from language learning materials to government reports to TV programmes, DVDs and films for general release. Prior to that, I worked as a full time subtitler for the ITV network.
Since early 2010, I've also been able to offer a Braille transcription service.
I have a good general knowledge base, but tend to specialise more in medical and environmental sciences due to my background. Other interests include Celtic mythology, Scottish history and etymology of European languages.
