Source text - Spanish Las alergias alimentarias constituyen un desafío a nivel intersectorial y transdiciplinario. Para proteger la salud de la población sensibilizada hay que evitar el consumo de determinados alimentos con potencial alergénico, por lo tanto el correcto etiquetado ofrece información fundamental para los consumidores. Los “grandes ocho” están compuestos por: leche, huevo, pescados, crustáceos, maní, soja, frutos secos y trigo. Son considerados los responsables de más del 90% de las reacciones adversas al consumo de alimentos. En la actualidad, hay consenso con respecto a que dichas reacciones oscilan en la población mundial infantil entre un 6% y 8% mientras que para los adultos se establece un 3%.

Registration and donation of ivermectin by Merck & Co in 1987 enabled mass treatment with ivermectin in all endemic countries in Africa and the Americas. Although elimination of onchocerciasis with ivermectin was considered feasible only in the Americas, recently it has been shown possible in Africa too, necessitating fundamental changes in technical and operational approaches and procedures.
