Translation - English Venice was a place for meditation and often a laboratory for cultures for many intellectuals all over the world since the start of the strong decadence of the oligarchic Republic in the 18th century up to the thirties of the 20th century. Perpetually, a crowd of cultivated visitors – which sometimes lived for years in the island city – has wondered how such a wonderful and celebrated capital could perish during the transition from the aristocratic age of the old regime to the modern bourgeois age, or could recover a new dimension through original utopian impulses.
