TWINNING SCHOOLS IN YOUR AREA WITH SCHOOLS IN XXX, ENGLAND AS PART OF THE FIRST WORK WAR CENTENARY
I write to send fraternal greetings to you and the citizens of our sister town of XXX from the citizens of the City of XXX and to ask if you would help facilitate the “twinning” of schools in XXX with schools in XXX?
In XXX, we are working on a programme of activities to mark the 100th Anniversary of the First World Ward. We currently have a number of projects taking place in our schools and one of our main proposals is to work to make links between primary and secondary schools in XXX and in the Somme, including XXX.
This project would build on the historic links between XXX and XXX and provide many learning opportunities for our children, including possible school exchange visits. We also believe that our joint activities will go a long way to ensuring that children at our schools, now and in the future, grow up knowing the huge sacrifices that were made on their behalf by previous generations.
We believe that 2016 will be a wonderful opportunity to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and the most appropriate time for this twinning to take place. As this project will require intense preparation, we are eager to start this process now.
I do hope that you are as excited as I am at the wonderful possibility of linking XXX and XXX once again, that you will support this “twinning” project and help us to make it happen. I look forward to hearing from you with your views on our idea, for twinning schools in XXX and XXX. We can then start the process of working together to plan.

JUMELAGE ENTRE LES ÉCOLES DE VOTRE RÉGION ET LES ÉCOLES DE XXX, ANGLETERRE, DANS LE CADRE DU CENTENAIRE DE LA PREMIÈRE GUERRE MONDIALE.
Je vous écris pour vous envoyer, à vous et aux citoyens de notre ville jumelle de XXX, les salutations fraternelles des habitants de la Ville de XXX et pour vous demander votre soutien dans l’établissement d’un jumelage entre les écoles de nos deux villes.
À XXX, nous préparons un programme d’activités pour marquer le Centenaire de la Première Guerre Mondiale. Nous travaillons en ce moment sur un certain nombre de projets qui se déroulent dans nos écoles, et une de nos propositions principales est de créer des liens entre les écoles primaires et secondaires de XXX et celles de la Somme, y compris XXX.
Ce projet se baserait sur les liens historiques qui existent entre XXX et XXX et pourrait fournir d’amples opportunités d'apprentissage pour nos enfants, notamment grâce à de possibles échanges scolaires. Source text - English Mrs XXX, you are quite right and I shall check whether this has actually not been done. I shall also refer the matter to the College of Quaestors, and I am certain that they will be keen to ensure that we comply with the regulations we ourselves vote on.
Madam President, XXX and I had tabled questions on certain opinions of the Vice-President, Mrs XXX, which appeared in a Spanish newspaper. The competent services have not included them in the agenda on the grounds that they had been answered in a previous part-session. I would ask that they reconsider, since this is not the case. The questions answered previously referred to Mrs XXX’s intervention, on another occasion, and not to these comments, which appeared in the ABC newspaper on 18 November.
Mr XXX, we shall check all this. I admit that, at present, the matter seems to be somewhat confused. We shall therefore look into it properly to ensure that everything is as it should be.
Madam President, I should like to know if there will be a clear message going out from Parliament this week about our discontent over today's decision refusing to renew the arms embargo on Indonesia, considering that the vast majority in this Parliament have endorsed the arms embargo in Indonesia in the past? Today's decision not to renew the embargo is extremely dangerous considering the situation there. So Parliament should send a message, since that is the wish of the vast majority. It is irresponsible of EU Member States to refuse to renew the embargo.
Translation - French Chère Mme XXX, vous avez bien raison et je vais vérifier si cela n'a pas en effet déjà été fait. Je vais également informer le collège des questeurs, et je suis sûre qu'ils sont soucieux que nous appliquions les lois que nous passons nous-mêmes.
Madame La Présidente, Mme XXX et moi-même avions soulevé des questions concernant certains points de vue exprimés par la Vice-Présidente, Mme XXX, publiés dans un journal espagnol. Les services compétents ne les ont pas ajoutés à l'ordre du jour sous prétexte qu'elles avaient été discutées lors d'une session plénière antérieure. Je demande aujourd'hui que ma requête soit reconsidérée, puisque cela n'a pas été le cas. Les réponses apportées faisaient référence à des questions concernant l'intervention de XXX, à un autre moment, et non aux commentaires qui sont apparus dans le journal ABC le 18 novembre.
M. XXX, nous vérifierons tout cela. J'admets que, à cet instant, cette situation est quelque peu confuse. Nous allons ainsi examiner ce problème plus profondément afin d'assurer que tout soit en ordre.
Madame La Présidente, j'aimerais savoir si un message clair sera exprimé par le Parlement cette semaine concernant notre mécontentement de la décision d'aujourd'hui qui empêche le renouvellement de l'embargo sur les armes imposé à l'Indonésie. Rappelons-nous quand-même que la grande majorité des membres de ce Parlement avaient approuvé cet embargo dans le passé. La décision qui a été prise aujourd'hui ne ne pas renouveler l'embargo est extrêmement dangereuse, vu la situation actuelle là-bas. Ainsi, le Parlement devrait exprimer son opinion, puisque cela en est le désir de la grande majorité de ses membres. Il est irresponsable pour les Etats Membres de l'UE de refuser le renouvellement de cet embargo.
