Translation - English “Abaissement” in analytical psychology, is a loosening of inhibition or relaxation of restraints.
The term, coined by Pierre Janet – Carl Jung’s teacher –, describes a frame of mind in which incidental, unconscious contents may occur – due to the reduced consciousness state.
This present visual essay is composed of incomplete, fragmented, dreamlike-featured pictures. The night is, in the present work, a moment of the expansion of the sensory experiences, which enables an unrestricted and unpredictably creative process. The photographs are instantaneous reactions of these experiences.
