Swedish translator with an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Surrey, UK (1998), and a Fil. Kand. (BA) in English, Linguistics and Musicology from Lund University (1996), Sweden, professional translator since 1998, independent since 2002, working from English,French and Danish exclusively into Swedish.
I mainly specialize in the translation of patents and offer my clients high-quality translations using the layout and formatting required by the Swedish Patent and Registration Office. These patents are heavily technical and cover the fields of chemistry (pharmaceutics), medicine, physics and general engineering.
Apart from patents, I offer translations for various types of technical documentation and have in-depth knowledge of domains such as health, medical devices, safety and security in the work environment. I have also had the opportunity to gather expertise in fields such as sport & fitness, nutrition and food products. Moreover, in recent years, my services have come to include the translation of marketing texts for consumer products in all of the above areas. I work with SDL Trados Studio 2021.
Due to family circumstances, I have had the opportunity to live and carry out my activity in a number of different countries, including the UK, Spain, France and the US. Most recently, I was a resident for 6 years in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, but in early 2016 I repatriated to Sweden and am now based in Helsingborg in the southern region of Scania (Skåne in Swedish).
Numerous international moves and the challenges they have brought along, has taught me to deal with adversities and changes better and improved my communication, including that with clients, as well as increased my network of contacts.
After graduating in 1998, I started out as a project manager/in-house translator for a translation agency in the UK, where I, apart from carrying out translation work into Swedish, learnt to manage translation projects and liaise between clients and freelance translators, which gave me an important insight into various aspects of the translation industry.
Apart from languages and linguistics, music is another passion of mine, and singing in particular. Having spent my childhood and youth singing in girls choirs, and taking private singing lessons for various instructors over the years, I am currently a member of two mixed choirs. One mainly performs traditional choir compositions for mass, the other is an advanced a-capella chamber choir that takes on more challenging works.
