Bio

I am a certified translator (https://ottiaq.org/en/member/30870/), certified CoreCHI healthcare interpreter, and translation and interpreting instructor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (https://www.umass.edu/llc/online-translation-and-interpreting-faculty).

I translate from English and German into French in the fields of fiction & non-fiction. My favorite areas are marketing & advertising, culture & travel, food & wine, scholarly materials focusing on the humanities, and health care. I have a particular love for transcreation, an area in which I gained expertise when I studied advertising.

I also offer consecutive interpreting services in health care and immigration settings . I have extensive experience as a liaison interpreter for German and British journalists in the fields of art & culture, and wine & food. My life experience working in three different continents taught me how to think about audiences in a way that is unique, something I particularly enjoy sharing with my clients and students.

I hold an M.A. in translation a Ph.D. in translation studies from Université de Montréal, Canada, where I wrote my dissertation on the translation of sound motifs in African fiction.

Over the last couple of years, I taught professional translation at New York University’s School of Professional Studies and Montclair State University. I have designed translation curricula, built alliances between academia and the professional world, and created community-based projects in translation and interpreting with a particular focus on refugee communities.

I am an active member of the ATA and the New York Circle of Translators and a regular presenter at major translation events and translation studies conferences, including those of the American Translators Association and the Canadian Association for Translation Studies.
