I am a graduate translator from Spain. My main languages of work are Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Although I grew up in Spain, I have been living in the UK for over 8 years, which means I am very fluent in English and I have acquired a great knowledge of the culture. I also spent my Erasmus year in Lisbon, which was a fantastic opportunity to improve my Portuguese.
My main areas of work are Legal, International Relations, Food/Drink, Instruction Manuals, and Marketing. Of all these areas, the one that I enjoy the most and in which I have more experience in is Legal and International Relations, for almost two years now I have been working on a very exciting international legal case for which I had to translate texts from both English and Portuguese into Spanish. This project started simply with the translation of court documents, but it quickly moved to translating documents from the UN, INTERPOL and the ECOWAS. This project is one that I am extremely proud of and which has made me evolve as a translator in a way I could not imagine. Due to the urgency of the texts, I have had to perfect my time management skills and I have learned to offer the best quality work under very short deadlines.
Although legal is my favourite area, I also enjoy Marketing and Food/Drink, from 2018 to 2020 I worked as an in-house translator for a restaurant group based in London with restaurants located in the south of Spain. For this group I translated menus, social media posts and other marketing materials. I have also translated marketing materials from different fields, from press releases about video games and new energy sources, to brochures for mental health clinics or even websites.
I am a very responsive worker who is able to work on her own. I work great under pressure and always meet all the deadlines. I am a perfectionist, which is not always the best trait, but I strive for the best and if I do make a mistake, I make sure that I never repeat it. |
