English to French: Serendipity Mystery/Mystère et Bonne Fortune (by R.F. Kristi) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Mom had decided to spend the holidays on a tiny golden island in the Indian Ocean lying between India and Southeast Asia. I smacked my lips in glee! It was cold and gloomy back home and here we were on a beach cottage on the sunny island of Sri Lanka formerly known as Ceylon, in a seaside village named Galle. We had been on a long flight from London. Despite our long voyage, we were very pleased to be on this pretty island and away from the dreary wet weather back home.

Source text - English The monastery bells rang like an alarm, though no one was in the bell tower to pull the ropes. Lightening flashed across the courtyard as the storm appeared out of nowhere. The wind whipped mercilessly, bringing with it the harsh stench of death. A dark ominous cloud appeared on the horizon, racing toward the monastery at breakneck speed. The monks, who made this monastery home, fell in like soldiers with their weapons of wood, bone, and gold at the ready. They had trained all their lives for this war… this moment in time, as their ancestors had for over a millennium. Sacred scrolls of power and magic were unearthed from the vast library and brought forth to do their work. Dark blue and amethyst cloaks billowed violently as the monks stood ready to fight a war they each had secretly prayed would not happen in their lifetime.

I'm a translator and I love doing that. French to English, and the other way around too.
As a French individual of Caribbean cultural background I was raised in a multi-lingual environment.
My languages are French, English and Creole (French-based) and although French and Creole are both my native tongues, my level in English language is that which is referred to as "near native" since I've been exposed to it from a very early age.
Having spent my childhood moving between mainland France and my native French oversea region, I have acquired mastery over both standard French (as used by French continentals) and the Caribbean variation of it. Twenty years of reading and writing have helped shaping the person I am today. That's the explanation behind the wide range of subject I can work with.
I'm best at doing things I love, translating being on top of my favorite activities.
Beside being a translator, I'm a graphic artist working on photographs (either to repair old pictures or embellish portraits) or creating visuals and 3d textures. I'm also a writer (mainly song lyrics but not only) and a composer. I particularly love being involved in adaptation projects such as adapting song lyrics from French to English or vice versa or from/to Creole....
I am specialized in various fields including but not limited to film production/audiovisual/entertainment production, multimedia, toys, administrative letters, adapting song lyrics, education... If in doubt, please contact me for more information.
