Bio
As a person of mixed ethnicity, both Spanish and English are my native languages. Having been raised in the United States and attended the public schools here, English was my predominate language in my early years. In order to counteract this, I studied Spanish for over ten years throughout school and college. My degree is in Comparative Literature with a background in Spanish literature. My literacy in Spanish, is therefore advanced. As a creative writer, I find that translation comes naturally because I am constantly using my interpretation and editing skills.

For the last ten years I have worked in the field of education as a teacher and/or coordinator for educational institutions. Having worked largely in mainly Spanish speaking communities, I have had to do a great deal of translation and interpretation for community members and families. I also worked for an educational institution whose primary focus is public health trainings for two years where I was solely responsible for translating for the company and have thereby become proficient in medical and health terminology in Spanish, particularly in the areas of STI/HIV prevention, family planning, prenatal care, and treatment adherence.

Since 2010, I have been doing freelance translation and interpretation. Much of the work I do is for non-profit agencies in the New York City area, but I have also done projects for legal firms, marketing companies, and other industries.
