That’s me in the corner (top left). Legal translator, avid record collector and
father of two. I guess this would sum me up these days.
I’ve been working as a translator for 23 years now. I got my bachelor’s degree in
translation in 2001 and that’s what I’ve been doing since then. After acquiring
a significant amount of experience in the legal field, it made sense to make it
my main area of expertise. That led me to pursue a postgraduate degree in Legal
Translation. Through the years, though, I’ve translated a wide diversity of
texts, specially related to tourism, music and sports.
I love music. Music is my sanctuary. Music is the healing force of the universe. Or,
as Leonard Cohen brilliantly puts it: “We’re ugly, but we have the music”. In
this area, I’ve been subtitling music documentaries for a music film festival in
Barcelona for more years than I can remember, I used to write concert reviews
for a music magazine and did some writing for a massively known digital
platform.
CAT tools. There’s joy in repetition (Prince said that), so I’ve been using Trados, GTT, Memsource
and Transit NXT extensively for various projects and clients. I’m not a huge
fan of MTPE, as experience has shown me that the quality of machine translation
varies a great deal depending on various factors. But times they are a-changin' and that’s what’s going on. Did
I mention I can adapt easily to most needs?
Satisfaction? I just can’t get any (that’s attention to detail for you!), but it’s guaranteed
for all my clients.
As to my kids, they can drive me up the wall like no one ever has. But that’s their job and
they are good at it (see? Ours is a hard-working lineage). I just adore them.
Contact me if you feel I can be of any help to you, or if you managed to spot at least 9
references to song titles/lyrics in my profile.
