Dear potential client,
My growth as a translator is intertwined with my discovery and understanding of the mentality and way of life of the countries where I've so far had the pleasure of residing, or simply I was lucky enough to visit. Instead of a conventional c.v. I decided to post highlights of my life to let you have a more accurate snapshot of what makes me declare that I specialize in business general and medical general translation, and lets you also see why I chose specific areas of work and of interest. I view translation as a lifelong passion. Each new translation poses a set of challenges, no matter how many glossaries I store in my laptop. I consider being a curious, lifelong learner, and a voracious reader my most precious assets, which help me in many ways broaden my horizons and offer a substantial basis to understand the source texts I feel I can translate with quality results.
I am an Italian native speaker, born in Udine, where I acquired since childhood Friulian as my second language as well, and which has created a linguistic substratum that has stayed with me even after I left Italy, almost 15 years ago, giving me the first understanding of what being bilingual means, and the challenges that fluctuation in language competence in bilinguals pose.
I hold a Diploma di Perito Aziendale e Corrispondente in Lingue Estere (English and German); plus a B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literatures from Universita' degli Studi di Udine (English and German). My curriculum is varied, and all the experiences and places I visited helped shaping my language knowledges, which I apply to all my translation projects.
