Italian to English: Text from "Quantitative analytical chemistry" Harris D.C. , W.H. Freeman and Co. General field: Science Detailed field: Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
Source text - Italian When trace impurities in tungsten powder are analyzed by graphite furnace absorption using direct solid sampling, WO3 from the surface of the powder sublimes and fills the furnace with vapor, creating spectral interference throughout the visible and ultraviolet regions. Heating the powder under H2 at 1000°-1200°C in the furnace prior to atomization reduces WO3 to metallic tungsten and eliminates the interference.
Chemical interference is caused by any component of the sample that decreases the extent of atomization of analyte. Releasing agents are chemicals added to a sample to decrease chemical interference. EDTA and 8-hydroxyquinoline protect Ca2+ from interference.
EDTA e 8-idrossichinolina proteggono Ca2+ dagli effetti dell'interferenza.

Bio
My expertise in technical translations is based on 15 years of research experience as a researcher in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry and polymeric materials (both natural and synthetic) characterization.
As a result of this activity, I have publishied 50 papers in international journals.
I translated a number of chapters in:
1."Contemporary Instrumental Analysis", Rubinson K.A. and Rubinson J.F., Prentice-Hall, Inc. (50.000 words).
2."Quantitative Chemical Analysis", Harris D.C., W.H. Freeman and Co. (60.000 words).
