I've recently relocated from Liverpool, UK and am very keen to meet local translators and learn how you run your freelance translation business here.
The Powwow will be a great opportunity for us to network and exchange experiences and ideas over a cold drink (...errr I almost suggested a cuppa!).
I'm based in Bogor so would very much appreciate your suggestions about a nice and convenient meeting place in Jakarta, perhaps a Starbucks or the like.
Please note this meeting is intended strictly for practising translators and no refreshments will be provided.
You can learn more about me and my background at www.slobodzian.co.uk and if you're on Facebook, you can follow me on Slobodzian Language Solutions.

Maybe you can coordinate with HPI or Bahtera fellows
Feb 8, 2012
I think you can coordinate with fellows from HPI or Bahtera mailing list. I think there are a lot of members who live in Jakarta or Bogor. I am not sure whether I can join you because of the long distance. I really love to come, but I live far away from Jakarta. Hmm..may be you can ask for suggestion from Mr Setiadi

Dear Abdul,
I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. Thank you so much for your suggestion about getting in touch with HPI translators. I'll definitely look into it. Many thanks and hope to meet you some other time!

Rain check
Feb 16, 2012
Hello Kasia,
I signed up for the powwow, but it seems I will have to take a rain check. Maybe we could meet some other time in Bogor.
Best regards, Hendarto Setiadi

In Jakarta
Mar 2, 2012
Hello Kasia.
I have been running a translation business for over 10 years now, based in Valencia, Spain. I am currently in Jakarta and will be here three more weeks.
I've been pretty active in Proz for quote some time now. I've been to powwows in about 5 different countries. It might be fun to add Indonesia to that list.
Will you be bringing a bottle of Polish vodka (ha ha!)
Regards,
Edward

Meeting in Jakarta
Mar 2, 2012
Hi Edward,
Thanks so much for your response. Which area of Jakarta are you staying in? I'm quite flexible on the time tomorrow, so please let me know if you're still interested. It's be great if you could email me your contact details, like your mobile no. No drinking I'm afraid, ha ha ha! Unless you want to trade in a nice bottle of Spanish Rioja!
Regards,
Kasia

Ideas

Hi Kasia.
I just sent you an email about possibly meeting up tomorrow in Jakarta.
As mentioned, maybe meeting up at a shopping mall, such as at Pondok Indah Mall around 5 PM tomorrow might be a good plan. On the other hand, I have to run an errand downtown, after I finish doing a job that came in today. So, it is probably best to play it by ear for now.
On the other hand, there is nothing stopping you from proposing another powwow a week from tomorrow (Saturday... See more

On the other hand, there is nothing stopping you from proposing another powwow a week from tomorrow (Saturday, March 10th). That way people will have a bit more time to plan.
