Hi Pavel,
thank you very much for your help!
However:
Ask the reception clerk to show you the way to the nearest metro station "Staroměstská"
...if by the beginning of the conference I don't know where the metro is, it just can say I am not in Prague yet. Well: If I arrive to Prague by train, I will have to go, without asking the hotel clerk, from the metro to the hostel. So when I need to go to the conference I must know the way already! ;o)
Sorry, but I feel very happy when I think of the conference! )))
At any case, if the metro is the easiest way to get to the venue, I think I will search in internet the map of the metro lines in Prague and print it.
You can't imagine how eager I am about the conference!
Once more, thank you for your work, your efforts and your help!
Cheers,

Pavel,
how can I get to the venue from the airport? Is there public transportation or could you recommend a shuttle service?
Thanks a lot,

Hi all,
I booked a single room for three nights at the third Hotel of the conference hotel, http://en.olympik.cz/tristar
I'm astonished about the very low price, 44 € per night - is there any known problem with this hotel? Did anyone else chose this one?
Thanks,

Hi Petra and others,
They've showed me a double room in all three hotels and I can tell that the only difference is that some of the rooms are equipped with more expensive furniture and have larger bathrooms. They are all quite new (apparantly refurbished recently) and clean.
So don't worry, your room will be okay
Looking forward to meeting you soon,
Pavel | |

Dear Petra,
how did you get the price of 44 euro? I would be interested but what I see on their website http://en.olympik.cz/tristar is 90 euro / night?
Thanks!
EDIT - OK I found out that they offer min. 30 % discount and on the booking screen there is the mentioned price (50 % discount).

Dear Petra,
The metro station is just round the corner. It's "Náměstí Republiky" (Place of the Republic), only three stations away from the conference hotel ("Florenc" - "Křižíkova" - "Invalidovna"; take any train going in the direction of "Černý Most").
Excellent choice, you'll be staying in the very heart of Prague!
Cheers,

Hotel Artemis, Olympik, Tristar booked out | Aug 25, 2010 |
Dear Pavel,
Me being late as usual, I am now about to look for a suitable hotel in Prague, arriving on 1st and leaving on 3rd October.
After an enquiry to Hotel Artemis I was informed that they are "overbooked" (Olympik and Tristar, too). I just had a quick look at booking.com, a site which is always my first choice for searching accommodation. In order not to stay too far away from the conference hotel, what are suitable city districts - 09 and 03?

I found this city map with the city districts: http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Prague_municipal_districts.png&filetimestamp=20070401104700
Thanks for your help.

Hi Erik and all the others who still need to find a hotel in Prague,
While the closest districts to the venue hotel are Prague 3, 7, 8, and 9, you may want to stay at a hotel that is situated near a metro station (preferably the Yellow line) or a tram stop (preferably trams 8 and 24) to avoid changing.
Feel free to contact me or make a post in this forum if you need my advice.
See you all soon!
Cheers,
Pavel
