The conference page will be updated soon with hotel and hostel information - finishing the programme and opening payment are the priorities for now but we're almost there.
In the meantime, please note that the Olympik Artemis, the conference venue, has plenty of rooms available. Also, our Czech hosts: feel free to post here names and addresses of hotels you know and can recommend.
Thank you for welcoming us at this occasion - I know many are very much looking forward to come and visit - or rediscover - your breathtaking capital city.
Regards,
Anne

Here's another link to a website offering hotels, hostels, apartments, and boarding houses not only in Prague, but in the whole Czech Republic.

It may be of use for those who plan to stay a bit longer in our country.

Marek, one of the speakers at the conference, has suggested a service that offers reasonably priced accommodation throughout Prague. They mainly have apartments and boarding houses, but judging from what they present on their homepage, I should say it's definitely worth giving a try.
Here's a link to their website:

Thanks, Marek!

Hello,
I did some research on the Internet and came up with an apartment option:

If I have done the research correctly it is only 1.7 km or a 22 minute walk away from the conference location and if I have checked public transport correctly there is a direct tram from one to the other (a straight road).

Can someone in Prague tell me if this is correct? And whether there are any hidden issues a local knows about?
A room for 2 to 5 people is only 21 euro a night per person.....
I am just planning to fall asleep there.... and have a hurried breakfast! Prague is too inviting to spend time inside when one can be walking around or at the conference!
To me it sounds like the place I need.
If you have any other cheap clean suggestions, I would appreciate it if you posted them!
Thanks!
Ellen
PS Have not registered yet, but will probably drive up from Amsterdam on the Thursday before the conference and leaving on the Monday or so. ▲ Collapse | | | Pavel Janoušek Czech Republic Local time: 08:58 Member (2007) German to Czech + ... Penzion Alice | Jun 27, 2010 |
Hello Ellen,
This apartment seems to be an excellent option, indeed. It only takes 3 stops by tram (no. 24) to get to the venue as the two places are situated on the same street.
It's also convenient for those who plan to do some sightseeing, because the same tram will take you to Wenceslas Square which is the centre of the city.
So if they still have vacancies, I suggest you book a room!
Cheers,

Hello Pavel,
It is good to have my search confirmed by a local!
Thank you! | |

Hurry up if you want to stay at the venue hotel as they are running out of vacancies!
Early October is the best time to hold a conference in Prague, and so we are not the only ones. Unfortunately, it was impossible to reserve all the rooms only for us.
Sunny greetings from Prague,

I find the website for the conference hotel a bit difficult. A few weeks ago, there was a reservation form, which now seems to be gone. But when entering the arrival and departure dates, number of people and rooms I can't go anywhere else. There is no send button no matter how large or small I make the page.
I've now e-mailed their reservation e-mail but still it would be good to be able to book via the website.

Hi Rebekka,
I have now tried to book a room and it has worked.
Unfortunately, there are no more single rooms available. A double room is EUR 72.00 per night. I will try to find some other suitable hotels in the surroundings and post the links here soon.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but it was impossible to book the hotel only for the conference, as there will be another event taking place in the conference centre at the same time.

Hi all,
Thanks Ellen and Pavel for the tip! I've just booked a room at Pension Alice. About 58 euro per night, I believe, for a single room
See you all in October!

Penzion Alice | Jul 24, 2010 |
Hi again,
I've just spoken with someone at Penzion Alice and apparently they have plenty of rooms available. Rates seem to vary; my single room with breakfast is about EUR 60 a night but I believe it can get lots cheaper for people sharing, and as far as I can see from the website it looks really nice. Can't wait!

It is not near the venue, but after the enthousiastic words of Pavel about public transportation in Prague, I hope I will be able to reach the two days the hotel on time and without having visited before Bladivostok and Lisbon ;o)
For me the very big plus of this "Residence", yet a hostel, is its location, right next the Charles Bridge.
So if anybody wants to stay there as well, I would ask him/her to let me know it, so we can go together to the venue and back.
Ah! And BTW I will be arriving on tuesday the 28th of september and leaving Prague on Monday the 4th of october.
See you at the conference,
Helena
PS. Could anybody please check for me what happens? I do not get to find the connection between the venue and my hostel. I used for that the link of "Dopravní podnik hlavního mesta Prahy" Thank you very much!

Hi Helena and potential other colleagues who choose this hotel,
Actually, it's quite easy to get from this hotel to the conference venue - by metro.
Ask the reception clerk to show you the way to the nearest metro station "Staroměstská" (it's the "Green" line). Take any metro going in the direction "Skalka" and go for just one station to "Můstek" and change to the Yellow line (you must go down, it's the deeper one). Take a metro going in the direction "Černý Most"... See more Hi Helena and potential other colleagues who choose this hotel,

It takes less then twenty minutes.
Cheers,
