Russian term

электроразводка

Russian to English Bus/Financial Architecture
Form a property company's website, describing an apartment block:
В квартирах есть межкомнатные стены, выполнена электроразводка, застеклены лоджии.
So the apartments have walls between the rooms! Big deal! I have put "have separate rooms" for this, I presume it means they are not open-plan.
Can't trace электроразводка as a single word, but it appears to mean the apartments are wired for electricity. Again, big deal! But does anyone know exactly what the word means?

Discussion

Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
in any case, may be it will be better to translate "есть межкомнатные стены" not as "have separate rooms" but as "with internal wals"
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
if "wired for electricity" implies what I mentioned above it's ok, of course :)
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
So, me personally, would translate "выполнена электроразводка" as "(with) pre-installed wiring layout"
Jack Doughty (asker) Jun 3, 2008:
I see what you mean, Alexander, but I think the general way I have translated these will cover all eventualities.
I used to do quite a bit of wiring at one time, but the circuitry in modern houses is so complicated and the regulations so restrictive that I hardly do more than changing light bulbs these days!
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
and, as far as I know, it is now generally accepted practice in Ukraine - to sell flats with choice options 1 and 2 as I mentioned above
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
so, I can easily imagine that some people would prefer to buy a flat without a pre-installed wiring layout in order to have a custom layout afterwards
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
me, personally, is now *changing* the wiring layout in my old flat and I can tell you this is nothing interesting and no joy ! :(
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
2) with wiring installed according to a certain layout or without wiring (and again in the second case the owner wil be able to choose the wiring layout the suits her/him best)
Alexander Onishko Jun 3, 2008:
Hi, Jack! It may be important!
For example, after an apartemt was built it way be sold:
1) with or without internal walls (in the second case the happy new owner will be able to install the wals where s/he wishes)

wired for electricity

Hi, Jack! Don't think there are any hidden meanings here. The rooms have separating walls (yah, big deal), presumably as opposed to some other kind of separation like glass or wood; and having the electric circuitry already in place might be a good selling point if it's in the kind of area where that is not taken for granted. Or it could be just some sales blather to fill space...

made electrically independent

I'm not sure how this is said but one meaning that Callaham's gives for разводка is "separation".

I've faced this issue personally because there is a pool bathhouse in my complex on the other side of my basement and for some reason a switch located there is able to turn my basement lights on and off!

The second option might be:
electric wire network
See:
It uses the electrical wiring in your house to create a network. In this edition of HowStuffWorks, we'll talk about power-line networking and the technology ...
