Thanks! Oct 1, 2009

Thanks for a very good conference. I got a lot out of it.:-)

One gripe: the chat screen in the networking space was far too small. It was very difficult to follow anything. Posts had gone before most people would have had time to read them.

Thank you, ProZ, for being at the cutting edge of technology as always and giving us a special treat on World Translators' Day with a slickly organized virtual conference that made one feel one was right there!

Amazing! Oct 1, 2009

Dear Henry, Jared, Drew, Anne and all of you there, congratulations for the amazing event yesterday!

It was fantastic experience, my special thank goes to Jared, who has just finished his session and helped me right away to solve one small technical problem. I really don’t know how you had time for answering to the support tickets, making new options, chats etc…..excellent!

It was worthy that I spent almost whole day in front of my computer, but we are used to it,

We want more of it!! Oct 1, 2009

It was a great experience and of course I join everyone in thanking the organisers for the great initiative and execution... I can only imagine the amount of work you've put in it...

Some technical issues did occur, such as slow chat, small chat window in the networking lounge etc, but I'm sure these will be addressed in the next conference, so I would only consider them as teething problems, nothing more. Some technical issues did occur, such as slow chat, small chat window in the networking lounge etc, but I'm sure these will be addressed in the next conference, so I would only consider them as teething problems, nothing more. The whole event did feel like a 3-D one, with lots of things happening at the same time, and requiring attendants to give priority to what they want to attend, depending on their needs. The plus point is that the conferences are available after the event for us to download and enjoy at our own pace, which is generally not the case in real conference events.

I join another colleague on the potential attendance certificate for attendees, it'd be an interesting idea.

Well done!

PS: Perhaps the fact of providing a sense of belonging to translators around the world, a sense of community, might inspire translators to better defend their rights and better negotiate rates for everyone's sake? Just food for thought...

Certification of Attendance Oct 1, 2009

John Mifsud wrote:

Great conference! Nice mix of marketing and informative content in the sessions.

One question I have: is it possible to receive some confirmation of attendance (for continuing professional development purposes)?

I know this conference was free to attend, but some of us took a whole day out of work to take part in the conference and it would be great to receive some form of recognition of participation.

Thanks
John

I would also appreciate a Certificate of Attendance (for continuing professional development purposes), evtl. under Conference Attended in my Profile.

Thanks

Cristina

Fantastic, innovative and refreshing Oct 1, 2009

This was a really fantastic conference with many very interesting and informative sessions and exhibitors. I appreciated the possibility to ask questions to the booth representatives and get answers immediately, including the possibility to download materials and store them in my briefcase.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the staff of PreZ.com for the success of 1st virtual conference. It's not too difficult to imagine how difficult it must have been for ProZ staff to realize your plan.

I have been running my own translation company in Tokyo for 26 year. When I was young the translators who registered as our translation staff never came out front and I thought I should push them out and prepare the stage for them to present themselves on an important international communication stage.
You the staff of ProZ.com have arranged and built that kind of stage. We thank you very much.
We look forward to ProZ. Com’s even further development for many more years.

After all the justifiably positive comments... Oct 1, 2009

There is room for a question I hope? I will be honest enough to say that I mainly visited the virtual conference to pick up all the freebies one can expect at such do's, and I was especially lured by the announcement that one may win a laptop. I visited all the sponsors booths and some did have a few giveways (which I am not sure how I am going to collect, I would appreciate any advice on that matter. Should I just sit and wait for the emails?) but as far as I could discover there was no laptop ... See more

Having said this, a good attempt to bring a worthwile feature to 'our' international translation day!

Nice experience. Oct 1, 2009

I must say I attended the conference during some hours, but got the chance to listen to the seminars and these were very interesting. The conference interface was very professional. And I got the chance to meet other pros.
One thing I did find quite annoying was the chat room in the Networking Lounge. The window was small and hard to follow. Perhaps this is something which can be modified in the future...
I believe an attendance certificate would be a nice idea.
Thanks Proz.co

Impressive! Oct 1, 2009

Wish I'd had more time yesterday to take advantage of the conference, but I did get to hear Henry's talk, which I enjoyed very much. Will definitely attend the next one. Great job, guys!
