How to contact the selected translator? Thread poster: cquest

The translators sending quotes are able to see my contact details, including telephone number and address (if made visible). My question is how to find out more about the selected translator for a job? There is an e-mail address and that's all. I posted a job, accepted an offer but could not contact the man to do the job! His profile did not include any other contact details than the e-mail which was not working. Should not it be compulsory for an applicant to provide more contact details? | | | Ralf Lemster Germany Local time: 03:39 English to German + ... ProZ.com profile | Jan 14, 2006 |
Hi,
Have you tried to contact the translator through his/her ProZ.com profile?
Best regards,

Thank you for the quick reply.
Yes, I sent a message through the e-mail link, which was all I could do. The profile lacks any contact details.
Perhaps the translators who submit quotes should provide the outsourcers with more than one way of contacting them?

Hi again, Cezary,
Thank you for the quick reply.

Members are encouraged to provide as much information on their profile page as possible - whether they actually do so is their decision, of course.

Members submitting a quote have the option of openly showing the e-mail address stored in their profile, alongside other contact options. Again, it's their decision what they want to show.
Best regards,

Hi everybody!!
If someone tries to contact me through my ProZ profile, they can do it only by e-mail.
But if I send quotes for a job, at the end it is automatically written (that is to say, there is already the tick on the box) my phone and fax number and, if I tick the last box, my e-mail address, too. It’s only an idea!!

You are right - an applicant should provide more contact information. But if the applicant does not, that could be a warning sign. I am a little surprised that you have selected a translator who provides so little information. | | | cquest Local time: 03:39 English to Polish + ... Thank you all.
Then it was my mistake and surely I will not choose a translator who does not want to be contacted or/and identified.
Coming back to the question of rules, I still think it should not be just a translator's option to choose the amount of data visible to the outsourcer. Each serious quote should require the translator to provide more details, just as it is required of the outsourcer, regardless of their profile data. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » How to contact the selected translator?
