I prefer to use an avatar. It's supposed to evoke machine translation in a humorous way (2 burritos = 2 small donkeys)...
On other, non-work-related social sites, I use different avatars, for example "neal the sloth" (http://admascots.wikia.com/wiki/Neal_the_Sloth) ...
