Sorry I meant to post this in the Travel and Accommodation Forum for the Edinburgh conference and reposted it there as well.
Flights to Glasgow and even (perhaps) Newcastle might be worth exploring too. Although flying to anywhere other than Edinburgh would necessarily expose you to our less than perfect (and frighteningly expensive) train network.

Or instead of going by train, you can go by a really cheap bus - go to www.megabus.com.
I've travelled with this company from Dundee to London. My brother is on the bus from Dundee to London right now. And he also went from London to Dundee with Megabus three weeks ago. No problems so far.
Glasgow - Edinburgh: for 1 GBP (goes every 30 minutes)

Could you all please use the Travel and Accommodation forum for the Edinburgh conference at http://www.proz.com/topic/49289 to post travel suggestions.
I clicked the wrong option and created this separate topic by mistake.
Thanks very much
Rebekka
