接了一个中译英的活, 是一份台湾的商业文件,有一些人名和地名,我想应该按照台湾的注音翻译成英语吧.
这个问题让我感觉比较麻烦,因为从来没有接触过台湾的拼音, 另外,我从网上下了一份台湾通用拼音表,但似乎台湾许多人名和地点的译法,并没有援引通用拼音表. 比如台湾通用拼音表中的b,p和大陆的拼音b,p是一致, 按照大陆的拼音,台北应该是译成Taibei, 但我看台湾的译法仍然是taipei.
对于这个问题,我完全浑沌不清. 不知道哪位能指点一二, 这里先谢过了!!!

用陈水扁的名字google测试了一下，发现最多用的是“汉语拼音”，其频率将近是第二位，“通用拼音”的两倍。护照拼音在这三样中用的最少。
等看看台湾同仁怎么看。

是非常乱。当初我离开台湾时，护照上的拼音跟我小哥的拼音不同。他姓 Shuy，我姓 Hsu；在德国，我的姓谁也发不出音，仔细告诉他们我姓徐的发音，他们老是把徐先生叫得像打喷嚏，我干脆回他们 God bless you! 后来结婚就干脆改德姓。但每次到美国拜访我小哥，签证很麻烦，因为他跟我不同姓，要证明我们的关系，累死人。
总之，台湾人的姓名罗马拼音和新加坡人的一样，最好问他本人，否则很可能完全不是照拼音规矩来的那回事！

Hi,
I would say you should think about who the readers will be of your document. Depending on the skopos I would render the names and place names differently.
For example the British academic world generally uses pinyin so any newer document for use in British academia I would render into pinyin.
It all depends on the readership.

Do you mean mainland pinyin or Taiwan pinyin?
I got the job from a US based translation company. I think the readers should be US readers.
If the original text is from mainland, I think that there is no problem, I shall use Mainland pinyin.

西方的世界男女平等，沒有所謂的女生結婚才要改姓氏的事情。按照德國的法律，婚姻雙方必須同意一個共同的姓氏，兒女就採用那個姓氏，但婚姻的一方可以選擇冠上原姓氏或不冠上原姓氏的做法。有些歐洲國家甚至容許夫妻不同姓氏，兒女也可以各自選擇從父或從母姓。據我所知，中國也已經改成這樣的民法規矩。至少我們在台灣已經有這樣的自由了，所以我在台灣的銀行開帳戶使用的姓名和在中國開帳戶使用的姓名不同，因為中國的銀行堅持要用我的漢文姓名羅馬拼音；所幸我的客戶們都知道我有幾個不同的姓氏名稱，所以匯往德國、巴拿馬、台灣和中國的帳款就當作給幾個不同的人，分開處理，這樣就不出問題了。
