Hello, i am translating a document from russian where they state that the arabic word "almas" (the hardest) could be the origin of the word diamond in russian (almaz). Could someone give me the right spelling for this word (preferably in either french or english spelling) ?
Thank you in advance

Both are used in Arabic, AlmaaS is more standard Arabic, AlmaaZ is more dialect or simplified form of the same word. Both words are used to express the meaning of diamond, cutting tools made from diamond are known for their ultimate hardness. Also Almaas is a symbol for high values and expensive things.
Hopefully, this would help you with your text.
Thanks and regards
