Für Russlands Präsident Putin ist der in seinem Land entwickelte Corona-Impfstoff der beste der Welt. Wird Sputnik V in Europa zugelassen, wird wohl auch Deutschland Millionen Impfdosen kaufen. Aber ist der Impfstoff so gut, wie von Putin behauptet?
Neben Astrazeneca ist auch Sputnik V ein viel diskutierter Impfstoff. Das Vakzin wurde in Russland bereits im August 2020 zugelassen, noch bevor wichtige Studien, etwa zu Wirksamkeit und Nebenwirkungen, abgeschlossen waren. Diese vorzeitige Freigabe wurde von vielen Forschern kritisiert.
Die EU-Arzneimittelbehörde EMA prüft derzeit den russischen Impfstoff, hat bisher aber noch keine Zulassung für das Vakzin erteilt. Anfang April wurden Experten von der EMA nach Russland entsendet, die derzeit die Ergebnisse klinischer Studien und die Produktionsbedingungen vor Ort inspizieren.
Kritik an Sputnik V ebbt nicht ab
Dass eine Zulassung seitens der EMA derzeit „eher unwahrscheinlich“ ist, meint auch SPD-Gesundheitsexperte Karl Lauterbach. Der Grund: die Datenlage zu Sputnik V sei widersprüchlich und intransparent.

For Russia's President Putin, the Corona vaccine developed in his country is the best in the world. If Sputnik V is approved in Europe, Germany will probably also buy millions of vaccine doses. But is the vaccine as good as Putin claims?
Along with Astrazeneca, Sputnik V is also a much-discussed vaccine. The vaccine was approved in Russia as early as August 2020, even before important studies, such as on efficacy and side effects, had been completed. This premature release was criticized by many researchers.
The EU Medicines Agency (EMA) is currently reviewing the Russian vaccine, but has not yet granted approval for the vaccine. Experts were sent to Russia by the EMA in early April and are currently inspecting the results of clinical trials and production conditions on site.
Criticism of Sputnik V does not abate
SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach also believes that approval by the EMA is currently "rather unlikely". The reason: the data on Sputnik V is contradictory and non-transparent.
