English to French: Art Courses offered with accommodation General field: Marketing Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Source text - English AUTUMN - OCTOBER 2014
At present we have no plans to run any courses this year, but would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to run their own course. We are also happy to rent the house to artists in autumn, spring and winter, on a room by room basis for individuals or smaller groups.

Source text - English Dear M. C.,
I look forward to seeing you on Friday at 11 o'clock
I thought I should write to you as my spoken French is unfortunately terrible and seems to be getting worse.
I have divided this letter in to different paragraphs covering different aspects, please accept my apologies for this, but in the letter I hope to cover all the issues and the main aim is to get planning permission!
The Reunion.
I think you must have been confused why I didn't have anything to say at the meeting with LE. Let me say, I was confused by the meeting too!
When I came to your office in January and reported that the planning permission had been refused, you told me that a meeting was already organised with LE to discuss the situation with the water. Because the meeting was organised before the planning refusal, I thought that the meeting had been requested by either P. or M. A. or by LE.
At the meeting I was expecting whoever had asked for the meeting to speak. Or if it was LE to who had called it, to suggest a solution to a problem. Because I have never had a problem with the supply of water, it was not possible for me to complain about a lack of water at R and to insist that work be done to improve the water supply.
Also, I did not think that LE or the commune would spend money- to improve the the supply of water at P - just so that I can get planning permission. There is always plenty of water at R, even during the summer. That is why I was so surprised that the planning was refused.

English/French Translator
I am happy to offer my translation skills - even at weekends! - mainly in the fields of Tourism, General correspondence, Medicine (general), Engineering (general), Video games instructions, Administration, and Manual instructions. A native French translator, I have been living in the UK for over thirty years, and I am proud to have improved my translation skills in that time. My first contact with translations came with working for the Oxford University Press on the Oxford Hachette French dictionary. I then started to undertake freelance work from then on, with an array of clients - academics, researchers, religious groups, and so on. My work with the OUP also involved specialist tagging (html), and proofreading, both in French and English. I was also asked to work on some other projects on different languages to input some data using html. Past work includes translating into English the literature of a luxury hotel based in the Champagne area, translating from French a series of walks in a beautiful French area for the holiday makers of a successful gîte; to put into French the letters that my English speaking clients were sending to the French administration (about wills, houses, bills, ...), to write the description of houses for sale into French / English and to translate into French games instructions for some video games. I have also put into French some medical texts aimed at patients.
Multilingual Administrative Assistant
I am also offering my secretarial services either as ad hoc or regular services to businesses. This can of course be coupled with languages for typing letters, or making phone enquiries, and other administrative work. I was lucky enough to work with a group of researchers as the administrative secretary and with the accounts office of one of the Departments of Oxford University. I came away with good skills.
I was also involved in helping with setting up scientific conferences, for example the Eurodymat conference of 1994 (as secretary to the President of the conference and French translator) when I worked on translating scientific papers (Engineering Science) and proofreading submissions by members of the conference.
Languages Teacher
I am offering tutoring services that can be carried out face to face or on Zoom or Skype too: I am a qualified languages teacher (PGCE). I currently teach French to a variety of learners - adults, secondary school learners, primary school learners - for lots of reasons ranging from studies to leisure etc.
