Bio
I
am a native Italian translator with a MA in "Audiovisual
Translation: Dubbing, Subtitling and Localisation".
My
language pairs are: English>Italian, Spanish>Italian. I am
fluent in both languages.
During
my studies I learned how to translate for the audiovisual sector, and
I discovered my great interest in translating and timing subtitles
from a script, in adapting dialogues from one language to another
(for dubbing and voice overs) and in localising videogames and
websites.
During
the last 5 years, after I achieved my Master’s degree, I have
successfully carried out several translation projects in different
sectors (marketing, resumes, websites contents, newspaper articles,
civil engineering thesis), gaining useful experience. I found that
this really motivated me to become more involved in this field.
I
also gave private lessons of English and Spanish to students, and
this experience allowed me to deepen my language skills.
In
the last part of my MA path, I took part of an internship in a
dubbing studio in Rome, that works with very important TV and cinema
productions. During this experience I really improved my skills in
translation and timing of captions and in adapting scripts from
English to Italian. I also performed several captions for
hearing-impaired people and I learnt how to prepare scripts for
dubbing. After the internship, I kept on collaborating with this
studio as a freelance translator.
In
2017 I began to work as an audiovisual translator for several
international film festivals, realising translations and timing of
subtitles for documentaries and movies.
Recently,
I have also realised subtitles translations for a Netflix series.
Thanks
to these experiences, I realised how much this sector suits me, and
my passion for audiovisual translation has continued to grow.
I
am familiar with the following subtitling softwares: Subtitle Edit,
Aegisub, VisualSubSync, Media Subtitler, Subtitle Workshop, EZ
Titles.
I
have also a good knowledge of these CAT Tools: MemoQ (for websites
pages), Wordfast and Trados.
