It is important to identify the root cause of any unfavourable outcome, and whether it may be extrapolated or is a “one-off”.
If necessary, a copy is taken of the current schedule, and potential options evaluated to recover any actual or forecast delay keeping in mind recovery strategies have a cycle time for implementation.
The use of time contingency concepts (the Control schedule being a Target Schedule) allows the forecast completion date to move into the contingency temporarily while a solution is finalised during the following month.
It is important that future activities are not arbitrarily shortened to recover schedule delay, but rigorous strategies developed, reviewed and approved, and put into the schedule.
Similarly, forecast progress curves must be derived from the schedule.
Not all trends show lateness, some trends will be favourable, and may provide opportunities to optimise, or improve the schedule in meeting KPI’s.

This content, therefore, cannot be presented only as theoretical or formal classroom content but must be integrated into the student’s clinical practice as well. The transition into the new role of advanced practice nurse must occur throughout the entire master’s program. The content in professional role development should provide the student with a clear understanding of the nursing profession, advanced practice nursing roles, the requirements for, and regulation of these roles. The purpose of this content is to facilitate transition into the advanced practice nursing role and to integrate the new functions and activities of the advanced nursing role into the graduate’s professional practice. Part of this transition is the ability to deal with role ambiguity and to view role boundaries as fluid. The need for the graduate to work effectively in interdisciplinary relationships or partnerships, recognizing the uniqueness and similarities among the various roles, is also critical.
The graduate should also demonstrate certain personal qualities and professional behaviors such as assertiveness, the responsibility to engage in professional activities, and advocacy for change. The profession of nursing relies on the master’s-prepared nurse to participate in the profession and exert leadership not only within the profession but also in the health care system. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each master’s nursing program to foster professional role development necessary for providing leadership in the delivery of health care.

Parte de esta transición es la habilidad para resolver la ambigüedad del rol y para considerar sus límites como fluidos. La necesidad del graduado de trabajar de manera efectiva en las relaciones o en las asociaciones interdisciplinarias y de reconocer las singularidades y las similitudes entre los diversos roles, es también crítica. El graduado también debería demostrar ciertas cualidades personales y conductas profesionales como seguridad en sí mismo, responsabilidad para encarar las actividades profesionales y para abogar por el cambio. La profesión de enfermería confía en que quien ha obtenido una maestría en enfermería participe en la profesión y ejerza el liderazgo, no sólo dentro de la misma sino también en el sistema de asistencia sanitaria. Por lo tanto, es la responsabilidad de cada programa de maestría de enfermería promover el necesario desarrollo del rol profesional para proveer liderazgo en la prestación de servicios sanitarios.
