Something quieter: Kings of Convenience, Erlend Oye, Geru Mulligan, Eliot Smith or Nouvelle Vague. I also like Ska Cubano and pretty much everything launched by Putumayo records. As for classics, why not some Janis Joplin, Joy Division, T.Rex, Blondie, Os Mutantes, Talking Heads, or even Yoko (her last album is great). Mhhh don't forget about the Chemical Brothers or LCD Soundsystem... already got my ticket for their next show in BA!
I would really love to know what you are listening to, learn about the music in your countries, get to know new bands from other places, and also get to know each other a little bit more.
And... do any of you have a band? We'd love to know more about it!
So...raise the volume! More than ever I'm all ears...

Hi there !
I listen to (almost) all kinds of music but well, lately - let's say that I'm having a Mika period ! I love his album "Life in Cartoon Motion", particularly the songs "Grace Kelly", "Lollipop", "My Interpretation" and the great hit "Love Today" !
More generally, I can't really say there's a particular band or singer I love, it's more like I love one song here and another there. My all time favou... See more Hi there !

I'm more of a rock listener.
I love "modern" rock such as the Strokes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Placebo, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, etc.
But these days I'm more into oldies like the Beatles, Led Zep, Queen, Pink Floyd...
And I also love pop rock music, there are 2 "new" bands that I discovered recently on Deezer (do you use this website?), they are Paolo Nutini (a young Scottish singer with a beautiful voice) and the band that sings "hey the... See more I'm more of a rock listener.

Cheers!

Hi Aldana !
You're right - although it's very personal - Chopin is a great background music while working (trabslating, writing essays for university, etc). The guy was a pure genius ! My favourite composer of all times would be Mozart - I know his work almost by heart !

I can go for months without listening anything other than Led Zep
Right now, however, I'm re-listening all about The Doors, in big gulps.
As for working... when I work, I prefer silence.... although I'm going to try some classical, just like you, Anne, maybe it works. It's just that, for some reason, I don't work too well when listening to Iron Maiden. | | | Ilary (X) Local time: 07:13 My preferences: | Oct 22, 2007 |
Mika, Europe, Avril Lavigne, Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake.
I only listen to music in my spare time, for example during breaks or while running. I don't listen to music while translating or studying, because I need to completely concentrate on what I'm doing. | |

My entire day is filled with music.
For weeks now I've not been able to stop listening to Brahms' and Rachmaninov's second piano concertos. Other than that I enjoy listening to a genre called "ghettotech", which is quite a crude genre of music but extremely hilarious. DJ Assault being the DJ I've been spinnin'...

Hi,
Like Ilary, I don't listen to music while studying--I would not concentrate!!
And I share the taste with Sole about Siouxie and the Banshees (Dazzle is my fav).
I have been also listening to a Spanish flamenco-fusion band lately. They are called Elbicho, and the videos in You Tube.com show a very good example of typical Spanish passion!

Hey Siouxsies girl!
Yeah, you are right it's difficult to concentrate, particularly when you like the song!
Still, it's great for me to listen to a song from time to time to liven it up a bit. For example, when I feel like I am loosing the energy, listening to "Hong Kong Garden" of the Siouxsies always works marvels for me.
I'll check on that Spanish flamenco-fusion band. Thanks for the tip... See more Hey Siouxsies girl!

I also listen to it in the morning, since I'm not a morning person..
Couldn't agree more!
I also like The Killers a lot- couldn't make it to their show in Argentina on November 2. Had to choose between them and the Artic Monkeys, that fortunately was a tremendous show. Hope I get a new chance if they come again next year!
CheerZ to all rocking chicks and guys around!
