Hello all
OK, in view of the number of people interested, the desire to have structured topics of conversation, the need for a certain kashrut and for proximity to Rakevet Tsafon, I've
done some research into hiring a hotel conference room. I've found that the Sheraton City Tower can offer us a room with catering for a cost per person comparable or better to that of a restaurant (min. Nis 1800 – or approx $20 per person assuming 20 attend). However, the date must change: no... See more Hello all
OK, in view of the number of people interested, the desire to have structured topics of conversation, the need for a certain kashrut and for proximity to Rakevet Tsafon, I've

I've found that the Sheraton City Tower can offer us a room with catering for a cost per person comparable or better to that of a restaurant (min. Nis 1800 – or approx $20 per person assuming 20 attend). However, the date must change: not Dec 21, but a week later, Dec 28.
The precise cost depends on the number of attendees, and
for that I need to know your definite decision whether or
not you plan on attending the powwow.
Please note: ANYTHING OTHER THAN A "YES, I AM PLANNING TO
ATTEND" WILL COUNT AS A NO, FOR COSTING PURPOSES. Please
also note that if you're bringing a guest (no more than one
per person), you count as two, for cost calculations and
sharing purposes.

We have a number of options relating to the room, which I'd
like your feedback on:
- Audio-visual facilities. We can choose between:
High-Speed Internet Access Video Taping
Wireless internet Access LVD Projector
Flip Chart Projection Screen
35 mm Slide Projector Video Projector
Overhead Projector Rear Screen Projection
Audio Taping
- Seating arrangement: this could be formal (e.g. Hollow... See more We have a number of options relating to the room, which I'd

- Seating arrangement: this could be formal (e.g. Hollow
Square, where we all sit around a rectangle arrangement of
tables, like at team negotiations), or informal (a random
collection of tables, each seating six or so). For the
options, have a look at the website: http://tinyurl.com/swv4p
Scroll down to Meeting/Event Room Needs
Do you need a main meeting/event room?
Click "Yes", then click on the underlined "Select" link at
the end of "Setup Type".
- Finally, if anyone wants to stay the night afterwards,
there are special rates, although what these are I will
know only after submitting our precise request for number
of rooms and what type.
Please your comments on all the above. Thx - JO-S ▲ Collapse | | | dgtech (X) Local time: 13:41 English to Hebrew Fine with me | Dec 11, 2006 |

I guess a nice and not too big meeting room, with a flip-chart and wireless Internet access for those who come with their laptops would be nice. Also simple coffee/tea facilities and some kibud would be perfect.

Hello all
OK, I've got the hotel waiting for my confirmation that we want to go ahead with the booking, and final number of attendees. Because of the date change, I can't be sure that everyone who has said "Yes" but not explicitly agreed to the 28th or sent me an email to that effect will in fact attend. So far, I know only of six (incl. myself) who have confirmed. I need another 12 to make it worthwhile. Please reply by Wednesday 20th, or I will reluctantly cancel the hotel and ... Is it at 18:30? it's a good time. I hope there will be enough attendees. This has been dragging for a long time. A decision must be finally taken.

Confirmation of attendance | Dec 21, 2006 |
Dear orr-stav and friends,
My profuse apologies for not communicating earlier. But my schedule was very hectic. Anyway, I will be delighted to attend. You deserve a lot of credit for putting together this meeting.
AN IMPORTANT QUESTION: At this powwow, will we have to smoke a peace-pipe? I don't smoke. Could I have a sugar-free candy instead? | | | Details please | Dec 24, 2006 |
Dear orr-stav,
Could you please provide information as to the time and place of the meeting this Thursday, so that I can notify my colleagues at Haaretz. Thank you. | | | When and where? | Dec 24, 2006 |

Unfortunately I thought the event had been dropped, and only saw Orr-Stav's confirmation today. Meanwhile I made other plans that I can't change. So delete my name. Is there any chance of postponing it for a month.
This would provide time for better organization (I've not seen any agenda yet and I can imagine a morning being wasted on deciding what subjects to talk about); Also people who are abroad now might come. (And lastly

Considering the conditions we work under, its a miracle such a meeting can take place. But I think we owe it to Proz to do something that's better publicized and organized well in advance, with a good attendance. Having said all that, I do hope participants who work in the same language groups will contact each other and do 'networking' and work sharing. ▲ Collapse | |

Final venue and time | Dec 26, 2006 |
Hello all
After a tour of the Boursa area last night, I settled on Spaghettim – a kosher (dairy) restaurant/bistro at the base of one of the tall buildings, at Abba Hillel 7 (near the junction of Abba Hillel and Hayetzira). It's walking distance from Rakevet Tsafon, quiet, and capable of accommodating us even if twenty show up (their pasta is pretty good, too). Typical main course price around NIS 40.

I'm reserving for ten people, based on the confirmations I've received so far for the revised date of Dec 28th. I suggest a 6:30pm start, but this can be put back to 7:00pm if most people prefer it.
See you there!
