Lydia Molea Germany Local time: 23:23 English to German + ... What should we do? | Jun 27, 2002 |
Ok, everyone, what would you prefer? Lunch? Early dinner? Later dinner? First coffee then dinner? I know some of you have somewhat of a drive...(btw. I think Düsseldorf is about 300 km away from Würzburg). Let me know, only 9 days to go!
Ralf Lemster Germany Local time: 23:23 English to German + ... Coffee, then dinner... | Jun 27, 2002 |
...not too much of a rush getting there, but enough time to chat
I go along with Ralf... | Jun 27, 2002 |
Afternoon to evening would be perfect...Dinner not too late, though. I will have to return the same night (300 km+).
Where's all the rest of the people? Shouldn't we beat the drum? There were a number of people who originally wanted to come to the powwow in February. Should we contact them?

I will post another message in the forum, maybe not everyone has seen the other ones. I was thinking of a restaurant downtown Würzburg, if the weather is nice, we can sit outside ...
sounds excellent. let's pray to the weather god!

Dear colleagues, please refrain from any rain dances from now on until next weekend! We want sunny weather!

You can always stay in a hotel till Sunday and then drive back. Just a suggestion ...

Come on, you foreigner bunch : in Germany in Summer you go to a Biergarten! | Jun 28, 2002 |
I can suggest a few with good, although not too fancy food. But whatever you decide, I am with you
Lydia Molea Germany Local time: 23:23 English to German + ... Open for suggestions | Jun 29, 2002 |
Please feel free to suggest a restaurant, I was thinking along the lines of Schönborn for coffee and Backöfele for dinner, because you can sit inside and outside in both. However, if you know of a better place, pls. let me know so I can make reservations.
I am really looking forward to this!
Chris Rowson (X) Local time: 23:23 German to English Thanks for the suggestion | Jun 29, 2002 |
You have inspired me to consider it ... it´s still an awful long way though.
Some alternative suggestions: | Jun 29, 2002 |
I was thinking of the beer gardens in Steinbachtal. There are two: Postkutscherl - smaller but very neat and has good food - mostly Italian. Volksgarten is a very big one, food is rather simple there but cheap and huge portions.
This, however, needs a car to get to, and I don´t have one. So it depends how many people would have cars.
Something more scenic and with a better view would be Schützenhof of Nikolaushof (excellent food), we could walk there if we wanted some excersise be... I don´t know Backöfelle at all, so I can´t say anything about it. I know "Sternbäck" is a nice place to sit outside as well...
I am sure it is gonna be fun! ▲ Collapse

Chris' long way from home... | Jun 29, 2002 |
I think everybody would be happy to see you there, Chris. Consider it as a trip where you can combine pleasure with business. You can even write it off your taxes if you do it right. If you live anywhere near the Czech border, as you indicated, you won't have to travel much farther than I do.
Regards,
Volkmar | | |
Come on, Chris, | Jun 29, 2002 |
treat yourself to a nice weekend. Würzburg is a great place to visit, and think of all the wonderful people you will get to know... And the wine of this region is worth tasting as well!
