It is either good news or it is bad news. (-:

Probably because Trados 2024 doesn't make any difference as compared to its previous versions. I only tried Trados 2024 for 30 days (same as Trados 2022) and I couldn't find what was new there. I agree that 30 days may be not enough to evaluate the improvements, but probably you can tell what may be so exciting about it?
*If you're going to mention AI-related improvements, please don't just list them but elaborate what they specifically give in practice.

According to this person:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdwQv3dy3oE
...there is a new section called "Manager". However, I'm not sure if this is built-in or if this is a plugin, because the author says that in Trados 2022 it was called "Manager beta", and I don't see anything like that in Trados 2022.
The setup screen for ChatGPT can also be seen in this video. You need your own API key. You can select a prompt from a dropdown list. You connect to ChatGPT in the same way as you connect to a TM. That's it.
The author also showcases "Trados Co-pilot" which is apparently an AI driven help file system, but it's available to me in Trados 2022. And it's not very smart either:

Here's the brochure on Trados' own website:

Some of the "new" features mentioned in that file are also available in Trados 2022, though.

Trados 2022 users were given a 3-year subscription to Language Weaver (mine expires in January 2025), so the "6 million character allowance" is nothing new, and it will probably stop once the next version of Trados comes out.
Co-pilot Smart Review is now built-in, whereas previously it was a plugin that you had to install separately (also, the plugin will no longer be developed, so expect it to stop working eventually). Smart Review uses AI to proofread your translations. I'm actually interested in this... should check it out. You need your own AI engine API key, though.
AI Assistant is a built-in pane or window or thingy with which to interact with an AI service (supply your own API key). It has some nifty features, e.g. it can use your glossary to update an MT suggestion with your preferred terms. See blog post with screenshot here.
The PDF file explains what the "manager view" is: With the Manager view, you no longer need to jump between separate areas for managing projects and files. You can work with both in a more unified way, in a single window that makes navigating between projects and files much more intuitive. So if you suffer from RSI, I suppose this might be something for you. ▲ Collapse

Hmm. I paid the money to upgrade to their latest version (like I do every time they release a so-called new version), and, as usual, went back to translating in CafeTran after a few days of battling with Studio.

Studio 2021 here has this habit of randomly launching in windowed (not full-screen) mode with the window exactly the size of the screen, so when I click on the "expand" button (willing to get the small windows I am used to) it expands and properly occupies the entire screen.
Project Properties dialogue always opens in windowed mode, never in full screen, and the settings tree pane it too narrow for the settings.
When I generate target translations (the phrase "target translations" being an idiotic concept, as if we have "source translations") Studio will always ask me if I want to open the folder with the "target translations", I always have to click No, and there's no "Never ask me again" check box.
When I think about the effort and time invested in these stupidities by the "developer', the impossibility to download a patch and get them fixed without having to pay, when I think about the time the users spend on clicking on buttons over and over again, it becomes apparent that we are doomed, as professionals, as an industry, as a civilization.
I only use Trados briefly, once in a while, I suspect that advanced users can compile a huge list of the features which look more like sabotage. It is never going to improve. Let us get back here in 5 years, you'll see I was right.

This is my first experience with Trados. After a rough start I'm slowly getting used to it. I cannot compare it to previous versions but the Manager feature that was discussed earlier is quite helpful. One of my clients is requesting it so I need to buy it. If anyone is a first buyer and wants to join in on a group buy please let me know.

The Manager has to be activated in Trados Studio 2022 (but it’s not a plug-in)
To activate it you have a button on top right
[Modifié le 2024-12-15 20:20 GMT]
You have to click on "activer..."
[Modifié le 2024-12-15 20:22 GMT]
Then, Trados will restart and Manager appears on the botton left part of the screen.

People probably expected more from previous releases, but instead saw the same old bugs as before without any real improvement in performance or features that would benefit the user.
