Swedish term

medbotten med grindar

Swedish to English Social Sciences History
An early 19th-century estate inventory includes the following under the heading Åker och Kjörredskap: "2 Medbottnar med grindar." A Google search turned up: "Vid körning av grus, gödsel m.m. användes medbottnar med löstagbara grindar." I believe this was a horse-drawn vehicle on runners (medar), but am unsure about how the gates (grindar) were used. I can't seem to find the word "medbotten" in any Swedish dictionaries at my disposal.

Norskpro Feb 14, 2016:
Med If you look up the word "med" in SAOB, it says: "vardera av de två jämförelsevis smala, framtill uppåtböjda trästycken l. metallskenor som bilda det underrede varpå släddonet osv. vid framförandet glider på marken."
