"Otro problema será la incidencia de la luz sobre las plumas, ya que en algunas con brillos o iridiscencias notaremos cambios según les llegue la luz a las vibrisas."
This is from a text about collecting and studying bird feathers. I have just found the word 'whiskers' as equivalent to 'vibrisas', but I am not sure whether it refers only to animal hair (like cat 'moustache'). Can we talk about whiskers in a feather context? I have also seen 'vibrissae' but again I am not sure it refers to the same thing.
Thank you in advance!

Bristles:
Highly specialized feathers, bristles are small contour feathers which lack barbs on the outermost part and have an especially stiff rachis.
Rictal bristles project from the beak of many insect-eating birds, including flycatchers, nightjars and even the American Robin. They are believed to provide protection for the bird's eyes as it consumes its wriggly prey. The bristles may also provide tactile feedback, like the whiskers on a dog or cat.
