Spanish term
subcicatrizal
Spanish to English
Medical
Medical: Oncology
Ecografía mamaria
Hello!
I was wondering if any of you know what the term "subcicatrizal" means in Spanish in the context of oncology and if you know how to translate it into English.
I understand it might be related to post-surgical scar tissue, but I'm not sure about the "sub" prefixing this specific case.
I could not find a proper definition anywhere, so I came here for help.
CONTEXT: It is a breast ultrasound report, and it describes a hypoechoic area in the upper area of the breast
The phrase "aspecto secuelar" gives me a clue that the patient had some type of malignant breast lesion and had undergone some type of treatment, that is why I think it refers to a "post-surgical scar".
I hope you can help me!
Thanks in advance!

subcicatrizal / subcicatricial
Selected
beneath scar tissue

A posterior location beneath scar tissue from reconstruction also makes tumors less likely to be palpated on self-examination or clinical examination.

: I don't see how this is different to Liz's answer. A scar is tissue.

You wouldn't say beneath "the" scar when referring to a breast with i.e. scar tissue from radiation fibrosis. "The" scar is a very specific reference here while the original one is just describing superficial scar tissue over the ultrasonogr. finding.

That's my interpretation but I am not a surgeon.
