This is a phrase from Ersi Sotiropoulo's book Zigzag through the Bitter-Orange Trees. It says:
Του φάνηκε ότι κάποιος έπαιζε πιάνο, μια παιδική σονατίνα.
Η ζωή εδώ τελειώνει... βγαίνει από τα χείλη μου...
The second line should appear in italics. It's the lyrics to the song.
I have never heard of a "child sonatina". Is it just a small or short sonatina?
Please note that I'm a beginner in Greek, so please answer in English. I'm looking at the translation of this text into Swedish because I'm writing a small paper about it at a medium level university course.

Discussion
I guess it's just the concept of a sonatina for children that I don't quite get. I'm used to childrens' music being lullabies, songs and pop music, but not classical sonatas with lyrics about the end of life...<p>
Can the word παιδική ever be used to mean just "little" or "small" when talking about an object? I'm used to Spanish where "chico" can mean both "boy" and something "small".<p>
But you're right, though, Magdalene, that sonatina already means "small" sonata.
