Dutch term

B.V. - Besloten Vennootschap

Not for points Dutch to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) New Belgian Companies Code as from 1 May 2019
A new form of company has been introduced by the Belgian Companies Code as from 1 May 2019. It is called "B.V. - besloten vennootschap". I gather it is very similar to the BVBA - private limited company - but does not require any minimum starting capital. I suppose one could also translate it as "private limited company" but this does not clearly distinguish it from the "traditional" BVBA. Does anyone have a(n official) translation or personal suggestion for this?
Thanks ever so much!
Kind regards,
Ingrid

I think I would leave it the way it is, in the original language. These things are tricky.
Steve Robbie May 20, 2019:
not translatable From what I have read, the new Belgian BV is simply a replacement for the old bvba. They are both "besloten vennootschappen" and are not fundamentally different from one another in any way that you could express simply by translating them differently. So, if you need to articulate the difference between them, you should stick to the Belgian terms and add a gloss or an explanation.

well, since no one has come in, here are the translations provided by these 2 (NL) sources:
Jurlex:
bv

private limited company , A close corporation , A closely held corporation , A privately held corporation , A closed corporation , private company with limited liability

FEL:
besloten vennootschap <BV>
private limited [liability] company [under Dutch law]
private company with limited liability
private company
writeaway May 20, 2019:
Be patient Someone will undoubtedly come in with the Jurlex or FEL online translation
philgoddard May 20, 2019:
You shouldn't translate it.
