Report from  Oliver Walter
This was quite a good powwow. 20 people came, of the 63 who expressed an interest (a typical proportion).
There was the usual general noisy friendly chattering until about 16:20, when I proposed the same type of discussion that we have had in my previous 2 powwows. This idea was accepted and we discussed typical translator questions: mainly about rates of pay (including the sometimes difficult question of proofreading, editing or retranslating) but also a few shorter discussions such as finding work, how long agencies take to pay, and translation into a language that isn't your first one. This discussion lasted for over an hour, and we left at about 17:40 in weather that was fairly pleasant (about 14 deg.C or 57 deg. F) but colder than might be expected here in late May. This venue (The King and Queen pub) is still a good one - easy to reach, quiet, and the only charge made is that each of us donates one UK Pound to the landlord's chosen charity (Macmillan Cancer Support at present).
